Who is Lady Gaga?
Lady Gaga, an American pop superstar, has revealed that she became pregnant at the age of 19 following a rape. The 35-year-old singer participated in the debut episode of The Me You Can’t See, a new documentary series created by Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey.
The series, which debuted on Apple TV+ on Friday (21 May), features interviews with celebrities discussing their mental health struggles.
Is Lady Gaga Pregnant After Rape at the Age of 19?
Lady Gaga told Winfrey, “When I was 19 and working in the industry, a producer told me, ‘Take off your clothes.'” When I departed, they informed me that they were going to destroy all of my songs.
She reflected while crying: “And they never ceased. They continued to interrogate me, but I froze and… I don’t even remember.” Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, refused to disclose the album’s producer.
She stated, “I understand the #MeToo movement and that some people are quite comfortable with it, but I am not.” “I never wish to see that person again. This system is extremely harsh and dangerous.”
She originally exposed her sexual assault during an interview on The Howard Stern Show in December 2014. Two years later, she disclosed that she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.
She revealed on The Me You Can’t See that she went to a hospital for chronic pain several years after being raped and was surprised to be treated by a psychiatrist rather than a physician.
She added, “I inquired as to why a psychiatrist was present, as I am unable to feel my body.” First, I endured severe pain, then I got numb, and finally, I was ill for weeks upon weeks.
She continued: “And I realised that was the same pain I experienced when the person who raped me abandoned me at my parents’ house while I was pregnant. Because I was vomiting and ill. Because I was an abuse victim. For several months, I was confined to a studio.”
She added that the trauma culminated in “a full psychotic break” that plagued her for several years until she won the 2019 Oscar for Best Original Song for Shallow.
In the 2018 film, A Star Is Born, the song is performed as a duet with her co-star and director Bradley Cooper. Lady Gaga remarked that her mental health improvement was “gradual” rather than “linear.”
She commented, “Even if I had six beautiful months, it only takes one trigger to make me feel awful.” It took her two and a half years to recover, during which time she “learned every technique for pulling herself out of it.” She continued, “Everything started to move gradually.”
