Is Sajin Komamura Dead in Bleach? The Truth Behind His Fate

is komamura dead

Sajin Komamura is undoubtedly one of the more fascinating characters in Bleach that we have encountered throughout the series. In reality, he was an anthropomorphic wolf who was saved by Yamamoto and given the opportunity to serve good as a Shinigami, despite being initially depicted as a masked “monster.”

He was one of the series’ most honorable and courageous captains, and he was strongly devoted to Yamamoto and his beliefs. Naturally, you would ask what happened to Komamura because he has one of the saddest and greatest storylines in the series.

Whether Sajin Komamura died in Bleach and what happened to him in the plot will be revealed in this article.

Sajin Komamura was a fiercely defensive person who dared to take on any foe, no matter how powerful. In his battles with the Sternritter, his old ally Kaname Tōsen, and Aizen, he came dangerously close to death twice.

He loses his Spiritual Powers and turns into a regular wolf after discovering his family’s trade secret for turning into a human; he is still alive but no longer possesses any skills.

You can read a thorough summary of Sajin Komamura’s destiny in the Bleach series in the sections that follow. We will only give you the specifics so you are aware of the entire context because you already know what happened and how it happened.

However, if you don’t know all the details, proceed with caution when reading the post because it will contain a lot of spoilers.

Sajin Komamura Survived, but at a Great Price

Komamura pledged loyalty to Yamamoto till his death when he offered him the chance to become a Shinigami more than 110 years ago. Thus, he reconnected with Tōsen, who then introduced him to Sōsuke Aizen.

He rose to the position of 7th company commander during his service. The fact that Komamura is a werewolf clan member is revealed only later. All members of this clan were transformed into animals as a form of penance for their past terrible offenses.

Komamura fled his clan because he couldn’t handle living in isolation until Yamamoto took him in as a shinigami.

Sometime prior to Rukia Kuchiki’s execution, Komamura makes his first brief appearance at the Commanders’ Meeting. Although his vice-commander Iba questions the validity of this decision, Komamura merely asserts that it is his responsibility to obey the authorities’ orders—and Yamamoto’s in particular—rather than questioning them.

After learning of Aizen’s passing, he brings Tōsen to Unohana to find out the truth. He consents to combat the Ryoka with Tōsen.

When Komamura and Tōsen arrive with their second-in-commands engaged in combat with Zaraki’s officers elsewhere, Kenpachi Zaraki joins Ichigo’s companions in their quest for Ichigo. After that, he and Tōsen battle Zaraki, who barely has any issues.

Zaraki agrees when Tōsen requests that Komamura face Zaraki alone. Tōsen loses the battle even though he uses his Bankai. When Zaraki threatens to kill him with his dwindling Bankai, Komamura steps in and orders the wounded Tosen to flee.

Now, Zaraki battles Komamura’s Bankai, but Komamura breaks off the fight in the middle after sensing Yamamoto’s Reiatsu. Upon discovering Sōsuke Aizen’s treachery, he promptly embarks on a mission to care for the traitor.

The fact that his friend Tōsen is working with Aizen, however, shocks him. He suffers severe injuries from Aizen’s Hadō Kurohitsugi while attempting to prevent them from fleeing. He considers what led Tōsen to do what he did once he has recovered.

To halt Aizen and his friends, Komamura and a number of other commanders arrive in the fictitious Karakura Town. He uses his Bankai to vanquish the Arrancar Pō, which threatened to demolish all the foundations of the false Karakura.

Following Yamamoto-Genryūsai’s triumph over Allon, Komamura watches the other commanders fight the Espada while tending to the wounded and receiving treatment from Izuru Kira. Tōsen later tries to attack Shinji Hirako, but Komamura stops him.

He promises to back the Visoreds in this fight on behalf of Soul Society. He then turns to face Tōsen and declares that he never imagined having to defend someone else from Tōsen.

Tosen responds that he was aware that he and Komamura would clash. Komamura is asked to join the battle against his former commander by Hisagi before their battle can commence. As the fight goes on, it becomes clear that Tōsen vanquished Hisagi right away when Aizen granted him the ability of Hollowfication.

Tōsen is too strong for Komamura, even with his Bankai. Tōsen also makes use of his Resurrección, which allows him to see. Komamura is upset when Tosen labels him ugly when he sees him. Komamura himself suffers as a result of the severe harm his Bankai has sustained, and Tosen threatens to kill him.

However, Hisagi suddenly emerges from behind his erstwhile commander and stabs his Zanpakutō in the neck. He lets loose his Shikai and uses it to penetrate Tōsen’s head. Tōsen then reverts to his human form while lying dead.

When Komamura bids him farewell, Tōsen tears up, finally relieved to still be able to see his two friends’ faces. Due to Tōsen’s injuries, his body explodes, which makes Komamura turn against Aizen.

Ichigo emerges from a Garganta and attacks Aizen just as he is ready to attack him. Komamura prevents Ichigo from rashly assaulting Aizen out of rage after Aizen taunts and provokes him.

They are now engaged in combat with Aizen alongside the other Shinigami and the Visoreds. But Aizen is too strong for all of the combatants together, and they are all defeated one by one.

Hirako and Hinamori are rescued from Bambietta Basterbine by Komamura during Quincy’s second assault on Soul Society. Now he’s back in some sort of armor and a helmet. These are destroyed by Bambietta, and Komamura appears in his human form.

He eventually uses his (modified) Bankai to defeat Bambietta after activating it. After that, he transforms into a real wolf. This is restitution for engaging in retaliatory thoughts. Then Iba shows up and carries his now helpless captain off.

Later on, it becomes clear that Komamura recovered and lived on. He now resides with Iba, who looks after him, as a wolf in the Division 7 barracks.
