He went on to study at the University of San Francisco before transferring to Portland State University. After impressing in the Portland Trail Blazers’ 2006 summer camp, Udoka signed a contract with the team. He started all 75 games he played in that season, averaging career highs of 8.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 28.6 minutes per game. He was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2007. Despite this, Udoka spent the next two seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, where he averaged five points per game and three rebounds per game in 140 regular-season games. In addition, he played in 21 postseason contests for the Spurs. When he was traded to the Sacramento Kings, Udoka was able to play in 69 games and start two of them, all while averaging three points and two rebounds in 13.7 minutes per game in his first season with the team. The Spurs dismissed Ime in January 2011 after he had appeared in just 20 games during the 2010-11 season and produced nothing of note.
He returned to Europe once more, this time to play for UCAM Murcia in Spain, where he completed his professional career in 2012. When the San Antonio Spurs approached him about joining their coaching team, he accepted the post. During the 2014 championship season, Udoka was a member of the Spurs’ backcourt.
