Hyundai launches new SUV Alcazar in the Indian market

Hyundai Motor India on Friday introduced its new SUV Alcazar in the Indian market. Its price in Delhi showroom is 16.3 lakh to 19.99 lakh rupees.

The country’s second-largest passenger car company is trying to further consolidate its position in the SUV market. The company’s Alcazar model is available with six and seven seats. Hyundai is the first leading company in the country’s SUV market.

The company has SUV models like Venue, Creta, Tusson and Kona Electric in the Indian market. The company has said that it has invested around Rs 650 crore in the development of this new model. This model will take on the Mahindra XUV500 and the recently introduced Tata Safari and Hector Plus. The company’s new SUV will be available in two engine options, two-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel.

The price of petrol trims ranges from Rs 16.3 lakh to Rs 19.84 lakh. The diesel variant is priced from Rs 16.53 lakh to Rs 19.99 lakh. The share of Hyundai in the SUV market in India is increasing continuously. It was 11.3 percent in 2015 which increased to 25.5 percent in 2020.

SUVs account for 42.5 percent of Hyundai’s total sales. It was just nine percent in 2015, which increased to 42.5 percent in 2020. “After Alcazar, the share of SUVs in the company’s sales is expected to increase to 50 percent,” said Tarun Garg, Director (Sales & Marketing), Hyundai Motor India.
