Overdraft fees of all sizes can be incurred for the smallest of oversights at various financial institutions. It is estimated that large financial institutions received overdraft fees from their customers of $11 billion only in 2019. At Chime, we’re always looking for new ways to do things. You won’t be charged a penny if you overdraw your account by up to $200 with SpotMe. ¹ A total of $1.5 billion in overdraft fees avoided by our members in 2020, as well as allowing them to make critical purchases when money was tight.2

We thought so, too. Detailed instructions are included. On the SpotMe platform To use SpotMe, you must be a Chime member who has activated your debit card and receives a qualifying direct deposit of $200 or more per month. As a result of a Low Spending Balance, Spotme Stepped in to Cover $12. “Your New Account Balance Is –$12.”
Afterwards, we’ll apply any future deposits to your Spending Account to reduce your negative balance. You won’t have to pay any overdraft fees because you’ll be in the clear.
Are There Any Hidden Costs?
That does sound a bit too good to be true, don’t you think? But it’s not!

Doing so once you’ve paid back your negative debt is completely optional. SpotMe will not affect your eligibility or limit for SpotMe in the future.
