The release of Matt Reeves’ The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson (The Devil All The Time) and Zoe Kravitz (KIMI), as well as the success of James Gunn’s Suicide Squad and the smash sequel series, Peacemaker, has everyone excited about the DC Universe.
The change in strategy and marketing methods for the series by DC and Warner Bros. has so far resulted in positive reviews and looks to have re-energized the fan base. For fans of DC’s Harley Quinn, though, this has made the wait for Season 3 even more… tough.
After ending on a high note in April 2020, production for Harley Quinn Season 3 began later that year (September), with showrunners Patrick Schumacker (Abbot Elementary) and Justin Halpern (Powerless) informing audiences that the next chapter in Harley Quinn’s saga would be completed by late 2021 or early 2022.
Three months into 2022, fans are wondering when our favourite female anti-hero, her partner in crime, and beloved gang of misfits will return to the small screen. So far, here’s everything we know about it.
When Will DC’s Harley Quinn Season 3 Premiere?
The premiere of the third season of Harley Quinn will take place on HBO Max on July 28, 2022. This implies that we won’t have to wait too much longer to see Harley, Ivy, King Shark, Clayface, and Frank the Plant all back together again.
However, those of you who are planning to go to the San Diego Comic-Con is in luck because the premieres of the first two episodes of the third season will take place during that convention. The Comic-Con event for this year begins on July 21 and continues through July 24; however, there is no date that has been determined for the screening of the sneak peek.
Is There a Trailer for Harley Quinn Season 3?
Back in October 2021, HBO Max provided a “first look” at the upcoming third season. As was reported on Collider, a teaser that lasted for 2 minutes and 53 seconds and featured a storyboard that was only partially animated was made available as part of the DC Fandome Event that took place in 2017.
It doesn’t give away too much in terms of the plot, other than the fact that Harley and Ivy, who are now officially a couple, are wreaking havoc, with Harley dubbing their exploits as the “Eat, Bang, Kill Tour.” In August of the previous year, a limited spin-off comic book series with the same name began publication.
The series would consist of 6 issues total. The Eat, Bang, Kill Tour comics take place between Seasons 2 and 3 of the show and follow Harley and Ivy on their cross-country road trip while they are being pursued by the GCPD’s Commissioner Gordon. This takes place after Kite Man and Ivy have abandoned Kite Man at the altar in the show’s second season.
In the DC Fandome teaser, Harley Quinn herself broke the fourth wall to announce that the season had not yet been completed and that “animation takes forever!”
On June 28th, the very first official teaser trailer for Season 3 was made available online. The trailer, which is set to the song “Bad Reputation” by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, provides fans with their long-awaited first look at all of the insanity that will be featured in the new season. Some of the highlights include Harley and Ivy becoming an official couple, the appearance of Swamp Thing, Batman and Catwoman getting a little frisky, and a peculiar cameo appearance by James Gunn involving Clayface.
Who Are the Cast and Characters of Harley Quinn Season 3?
Both Schumacker and Halpern, who are in charge of running the show, have hinted numerous times that fans could anticipate seeing more of their favorite DC heroes and villains in Season 3. Nightwing, John Constantine, the Mad Hatter, the Clock King, and Amanda Waller are some of the characters who have been confirmed to appear so far.
Although we do know that What We Do in the Shadows actor Harvey Guillén has been cast in the role of Nightwing, the identities of the other characters are yet unknown. The show’s outstanding list of guest performers, which has featured the likes of Frankie Muniz (Malcolm in the Middle), the late Jessica Walters (Archer), and Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), means that whoever the show’s creators choose to cast will undoubtedly surprise and delight the show’s audience.
On Twitter, Schumacker dropped a hint about a surprise cameo appearance by a special guest back in March of 2021. As soon as that tweet became public, the staff at Collider began to ponder the possibility that it was someone from James Gunn’s Suicide Squad. After further investigation, it has been established that James Gunn will portray a fictitious version of himself in the forthcoming season.
Kaley Cuoco (The Flight Attendant) as Harley Quinn, Lake Bell (Marvel’s What If?) as Poison Ivy, Alan Tudyk (Resident Alien) as Clayface (among others), Ron Funches (Bob’s Burgers) as King Shark, Tony Hale (Arrested Development) as Dr. Psycho, Matt Oberg (Superstore) as Kite Man, Jason Alexander (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Sy Borgmen

What Can We Expect From Harley Quinn Season 3?
The Eat, Bang, Kill Tour comic series will be continued into Season 3, and we will pick up just where we left off. At the conclusion of the last issue, Harley and Ivy are seen making their getaway from Commissioner Gordon and heading in the direction of Central City (the hometown of Barry Allen aka The Flash).
The showrunners Schumacker and Halpern have confirmed that more of Pamela Isley’s (also known as Poison Ivy) past will be revealed in Season 3, while naturally the new romantic bond she has formed with Harley Quinn will also continue to develop. During an interview with Deadline in the year 2020, Halpern expounded on the possibility that Harley’s history may have an impact on the dynamic that exists between herself and Ivy. She posed the following questions.
