Developers at Capcom have stated that the Resident Evil 4 remake will be released on March 24, 2023(source: radiotimes).
The game’s release date was disclosed during the Resident Evil Showcase, along with a great deal of new content coming to this famous franchise.
Evil 4 Remake Platform
Capcom announced during the reveal that the Resident Evil 4 Remake will be playable on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Since then, the publisher has confirmed that a PS4 version of Resident Evil 4 Remake is in development, however, there is currently no information regarding an Xbox One release.
Resident Evil 4 Remake Gameplay
Capcom is attempting to retain the essence of the Resident Evil 4 Remake gameplay consistent with the original 2005 release, despite making significant alterations to the aesthetic and mechanical design.
This version of RE4 will be a third-person action-horror game, although it’s evident from what we’ve seen and played so far that the publisher is attempting to increase the horror.
It accomplishes this by making the environment more claustrophobic, pushing the camera closer to Leon S. Kennedy’s shoulder, and increasing the size of foes and the world.
Capcom is maintaining some of the summer blockbuster embellishments that helped distinguish the original release, which is nice to see.
When Leon leaps through a window or is able to roundhouse kick a group of Ganados away from him, he maintains his leading-man stance.
Of course, there are also significant modifications, such as Kennedy’s ability to move and shoot at the same time, as opposed to RE4’s 2005 release and later remasters, which required him to plant his feet and fire.

Resident Evil 4 Remake vs Original
The Resident Evil 4 Remake is faithful to the original game, but that does not mean Capcom is leaving the plot unchanged.
There are tiny modifications, such as the dog being dead by the time you reach the bear trap, which removes the opportunity for assistance during the confrontation with El Gigante, as well as larger ones that serve to ratchet up the suspense and mood.
For instance, the opening sequence in which Leon S. Kennedy investigates a cabin before arriving in the town has been totally reworked; it is now a lengthier and more nightmare-like scenario that helps build the correct tone.
It also appears that the fairly absurd codec calls in Resident Evil 4 have been replaced with complete sequences, giving us a deeper understanding of the story’s supporting characters.
From Ashley Graham and Ada Wong to Luis Sera and Bitores Mendez, the vast majority of Resident Evil 4’s characters will return, although with new visual designs that remain loyal to the originals.
However, it appears that classic villain Ramon Salazar has been completely reimagined, and there’s still no sign of knife-wielding agent Krauser, although some Resident Evil 4 Remake leaks and speculations suggest he may have been cut.
