Does Lino Die in Netflix’s ‘From Scratch’?
The romance drama “From Scratch” on Netflix is based on Tembi Locke’s memoir of the same name. Amy and Lino, who first meet in Florence, are at the heart of the narrative. Their love story had the makings of a romantic comedy at first, but as time goes on, they encounter a number of challenging obstacles.
The greatest challenge of their lives arises when Lino receives a cancer diagnosis, even though they both strive for their goals and frequently experience disappointment when they don’t obtain what they desire.
Lino and Amy were on their approach to having it all just before the catastrophe hit, which makes their predicament all the more tragic. No matter how many issues the protagonists encounter in their lives, they always end happily, as is common in romantic tales.
Everything works out in the end. Do Amy and Lino experience the same thing? Let’s check.
Lino’s Cancer Struggle Ends Tragically
At the time of Lino’s diagnosis, he and Amy had finally figured out how to pursue their goals without sacrificing anything. Instead of keeping her on the sidelines, Amy was given a fantastic position that would actively encourage her to return to the arts.
Lino had succeeded in assuming control of the eatery where he had been a server. Even though they were aware that they still had a lot to learn, they were at least on course to achieve their objectives.
Lino’s knee problem, which started out as a slight ache, turns out to be a rare kind of soft-tissue cancer. The doctor tells them, however, that it is still in its early stages and that Lino, being young and healthy, has a high chance of recovering from the sickness.
Lino’s cancer disappears following numerous rounds of chemotherapy, taking part in an experimental trial, and knee surgery. He can’t manage a restaurant by himself, though, because of the aftermath, which makes him unable to remain in one spot for very long. All that matters, though, is that he is still alive and healthy.
Given a second opportunity at life, Lino and Amy make the decision to start a family right away. They choose adoption because they have no other choices for a natural pregnancy. They finally welcomed a baby girl, whom they called Idalia, after waiting for several months.
The couple devotes the following seven years to raising their daughter and establishing a life together. Lino takes on the role of homemaker while Amy assumes leadership as the family’s primary provider.
Once more, they are able to maintain a balance between their personal and professional lives by making a few minor adjustments to their daily schedule. As Lino resumes cooking lessons and has the opportunity to pursue his love once more, they both get to spend time with their daughter.
Just when things had begun to improve, fate intervened once more. This time, Lino’s lungs become infected with the malignancy, which then spreads. Even though they think they can win this time, they are aware that the stakes are far larger than they were the last time.
They have to consider their daughter this time. Chemotherapy treatments start up again, but Lino’s condition only becomes worse. He gets infected, which results in a never-ending battery of blood tests and other examinations.
Amy eventually gets fed up with the physicians’ constant avoidance of them. At last, a physician informs them that Lino will require a liver transplant since his liver is failing. However, it’s not as simple as that because he is already fighting cancer.
Lino and Amy decide it’s better to halt the chemotherapy and testing after giving it some thought. They acknowledge that nothing can prolong his life any longer and that it would be best for him to live out the remainder of his days with those who love and care for him.
After being taken back to his house, he passes away in front of his loved ones.
