Colin Jost Steps Down from Olympic Correspondent Role in Tahiti After Suffering Multiple Injuries
Colin Jost’s Olympic tenure in Tahiti for 2024 has come to an end.
On Monday, August 5, Deadline revealed that Jost, 42, has left the role following a string of regrettable injuries. Luke Bradnam, an Australian weatherman, has taken the comedian’s spot on NBC. Jost left, but no explanation on why has been provided.
NBC has been contacted by Us Weekly for a response.
Bradnam had already traveled to Tahiti to cover the events for Channel Nine in Australia. Before he departed, the broadcaster had a few encounters with Jost, but Bradnam was unaware of the identity of the Saturday Night Live star.
“You know who he is,” she responded when I asked one of the authorities, “Who’s that?” Bradnam was recalled by Reuters on August 4, a Sunday. “And I say, ‘I’m not sure.'” “He’s married to Scarlett Johansson,” she says. “He works at Saturday Night Live.”
In advance of the 2024 Olympic surfing quarterfinals and finals, Jost taped a part in Tahiti, which he released on Instagram on Monday. (The competitions were postponed earlier because to the minimal surf.)
Jost captioned the video, saying, “Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.” “The Olympic surfing semi-finals and final are now taking place in Tahiti. Here at the Skull Wall.
For Jost, things have not gone as planned since landing in French Polynesia in July. Jost provided an honest update on his assignment’s progress last month while chatting with NBC Sports anchor Maria Taylor.
“I regret for the slight delay in our communication with you. We had some technical issues, you won’t believe it based on this yard full of chickens,” he said, pointing to the birds behind him.
Apart from the distinct work environment, Jost disclosed that he sustained a foot injury when submerged in water.
He said on the show, “For instance, I had some open wounds on my foot from hitting the coral reef before you came to me.” In this yard, I’ve actually been walking in place because, if I stay still, ants start to creep inside my wounds. Not what I was expecting.
Later, Jost provided an update, saying that because his toe was not healing properly, he had gotten to know the medical personnel there very well.
“They started stating, ‘We must see you every day.'” I was like, “Oh my God, guys, I like you too,” at first. Jost remembered live. “No, it’s because the infection hasn’t improved,” they responded.
Jost got an ear infection in addition to his toe injury.
In a broadcast from July, he stated, “I woke up this morning and discovered that I had added ear infection to my growing list of ailments.” “At present, I take three distinct medications—four if you include piña coladas.”
