The National Basketball Association (NBA) team Boston Celtics have banned head coach Ime Sunday Udoka for the 2022–23 season.

Ime Sunday Udoka is a professional basketball coach and player from Nigeria and the United States. He was a part of the Nigerian national team when he played.

After being picked 39th overall in the NBDL Draft in 2002, Udoka’s first job was playing basketball for the Charleston Lowgators in the NBDL.

He was called up to play for the Los Angeles Lakers on January 14, 2004, but he was later let go.

Celtics Coach Affair

Ime Udoka and Nia Long broke up because he is said to have cheated on her. Nia Long and Ime Udoka broke up after 13 years of being together because she had an affair with an NBA coach.

A representative for the former couple told People on Tuesday, December 6, that the Best Man actor, 51, and the Boston Celtics head coach, 45, are “no longer together but remain totally committed to co-parenting their son [Kez].”

In September, it was said that Udoka had an affair with a member of the NBA staff. Three months later, the couple broke up.

After the charges came out, the Celtics banned him for the 2022–2023 season because the alleged relationship went against “club policies.”

The Athletic says that Udoka had an “intimate and mutually agreed-upon relationship” with a female member of the Celtics’ staff.

In response to his ban, the former coach of the Brooklyn Nets said he was sorry to “our players, fans, the whole Celtics organization, and my family.” However, he didn’t admit to the alleged infidelity.

“I’m sorry that I put the team in this difficult situation, and I respect the choice they made. I won’t say anything else because I don’t want to upset anyone.

Marcus Smart, who talked to reporters on September 26, said that the Celtics players were shocked when their head coach was suspended.

Nia Long and Ime Udoka’s long-term relationship has come to an end.

The former NBA player and the actress from “Fatal Affair” met for the first time in 2010, when work brought them both to Boston.

Even though Udoka’s NBA coaching jobs took him to places like San Antonio, Philadelphia, and Brooklyn, and Long’s acting career took her all over the country, the two never broke up after they met through a mutual friend.

After having a son together in November 2011, Long and Udoka got engaged in June 2015.

Later, in June 2021, the two went back to Boston, but this time Udoka was in charge of the Boston Celtics.

In September 2022, Udoka was demoted. In a statement, the Celtics said that he had broken “club policies.”

ESPN soon found out that Udoka was having a romantic relationship with a female employee of the franchise. People later checked out the claims.

In November 2011, Nia Long, who was dating Udoka at the time, gave birth to the couple’s first child. In May 2015, they said their wedding vows to each other.
