One of the latter members of the crew, Brook is a member of Luffy’s Straw Hat Pirates. He is an undead character who goes by the name “Soul King” Brook. He is a talented swordmaster and the crew’s musician, which makes him one of the series’ most intriguing characters.

Brook Died Long Ago, but His Devil Fruit Powers Revived Him
Forty-eight years before the start of the novel, Brook was a member of the Rumbar Pirates. A lost newborn whale once began to follow their ship while they were sailing in the West Blue. To lift his spirits, Brook suggested that the captain play a song for him.
When the crew discovered the following day that the small whale had continued to follow them, they named it Laboon.
Later, many others noted that Laboon had become rather fond of him. As Brook and the Rumbar Pirates got ready to cross the Grand Line, they were afraid it was too dangerous for a small whale like Laboon.
In vain, the crew attempted to persuade it not to pursue them any farther. In an attempt to persuade Laboon to see reason, Brook begged the other members of the team to leave him alone.
The Rumbar Pirates were at a loss for what to do, so they made the decision to ignore her going forward in the hopes that he would convince himself not to follow them. Laboon followed them covertly, but their strategy appeared to be effective since Laboon was out of sight for some time.
Following three months of ship repair and singing, the Rumbar Pirates agreed to give Laboon to Crocus, with the understanding that they would return in two or three years after completing a full circumnavigation.
The Laboon would be large enough to follow the crew by that time. Brook and his friends had many difficulties while sailing the Grand Line.
One day, while traversing a forest, the captain and half of the crew became ill with a fatal illness. Yorki made the decision that he and the other ill men would attempt to leave the Grand Line by passing through one of the ship’s tranquil zones in order to prevent the disease from spreading to the other crew members.
Regretting that he was unable to come up with another way to protect the men who were not infected, Yorki informed Brook and the other crew members of his choice. Yorki asked Brook to lead the crew to Laboon, where they would say goodbye to them while playing their favorite song, “Binks Sake,” since they knew they would not be able to return.
Brook and the others kept the new ship sailing along the main line. After being selected as the new commander of the Rumbar Pirates, Brook received a bounty offer.
Two years after the captain assumed leadership, the company entered the Florian Triangle, where they were attacked by fellow pirates brandishing poisoned arrows.
Because their ship’s doctor was killed in the battle, Brook and the other survivors gradually perished from the poison. Brook recommended that his pals play one more song after he had consumed the Yomi Yomi no Mi, which had given him the ability to resurrect himself after death.

Excited by the proposal, the remaining Rumbar Pirates began to play their favorite song one last time. One by one, the pirates melted away throughout the joyous performance, leaving the captain to play alone. Keeping the commitment he made to Laboon in mind, Brook continued to play the piano until his death.
The thick fog of the Florian Triangle made it so difficult to locate the ship and Brook’s body that it took a year. Nevertheless, Brook’s spirit returned to the world of the living.
By that time, his body was nothing but a heap of hairy bones. Now that he had his body back, Brook gathered the bodies of his fallen friends and buried them in a few coffins below deck. The rudder had been broken during the horrific siege, leaving Brook to sail alone for decades at the mercy of sea currents.
Additionally, Gecko Moria stole his shadow, and he even fought the zombie Ryuma, who nearly murdered him. For this reason, Brook made a self-promise to train to outshine Ryuma.
And this is the true account of Brook’s demise. Later on, he would be discovered by the Straw Hat Pirates, who eventually agreed to take him on as the ninth member of Luffy’s merry pirate crew.

Brook is Not Immortal, but It is Very Difficult to Kill Him
We know that Brook died, but the Yomi Yomi no Mi also made him come back to life. Therefore, we must first explain the Devil Fruit in order to address the primary query that is troubling you.
When a person consumes the Yomi Yomi no Mi, a Devil Fruit of the Paramecia kind, their soul is enhanced to the point where they can use other skills that require the usage of their soul and come back to life after their initial death. Brook ate it.
The fruit’s ability to give its user life after death is its main selling feature. The soul actually returns to its body shortly after it arrives, reviving the user till he passes away once more. When Brook is in his ghostly form, he has a skeletal face and is engulfed in spiritual fire. The greatest disadvantage of this skill is that Brook is completely helpless since he is unable to use or move his physical body after he separates his soul from his body.
But if the soul who created the Yomi Yomi is stronger than his, the Yomi Yomi owner cannot fight the Homies. This fruit is superior to Big Mom’s Soru Soru no Mi because it releases the power of the user’s soul by making the Homies it creates faint.
Immaterial Homies like Zeus and Prometheus can likewise be harmed by Brook. The returning soul would have to let the user remain in that state, though, if their corpse was broken or degraded. Additionally, it is possible that the soul will never return to his body.
The main drawback of Yomi Yomi is that it doesn’t give you any powers until you die the first time; the only things it initially appears to have are the flaws that all Devil Fruits have.
The fruit’s unique quality is that it keeps Brook alive despite his skeleton condition. Brook is capable of all human functions, including seeing without eyes, eating and digesting without a stomach, and speaking without voice cords, a tongue, or a trachea.
Following the time jump, in which he learned the actual nature of his fruit, Brook showed that he could channel his soul’s energy into anything, such as his Soul Solid, which turned it into an icy blade of the underworld that could freeze everything it struck.
Brook frequently takes advantage of the power he has developed to separate the soul from the body. According to the bones, it was also used to look at ladies. In addition, Brook’s soul would step in to restore order if his bones were to split apart—but only if they were still whole and undamaged.
