Is Bobby Sherman Still Alive?
Do we still have Bobby Sherman? It’s a question asked by fans, so here we look at how pop singer Bobby Sherman got famous and why he left the entertainment business.
Who is Bobby Sherman?
Bobby Sherman is an American who used to be a paramedic, a police officer, a singer, an actor, and sometimes a songwriter. His official name is Robert Cabot Sherman Jr. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, he was a teen idol.
He had several successful songs, including “Little Woman,” which sold a million copies. Sherman left show business in the 1970s and started a new path as an emergency medical technician (EMT) and deputy sheriff. Even though he changed his focus, he still put on shows until the 1990s.
In 1974, Sherman found his new calling while he was a guest star on an episode of the TV show Emergency! Because of this, he decided to leave the public eye and become an EMT.
He gave his time to the Los Angeles Police Department as a volunteer. He worked with firemen and taught CPR and first aid. In the 1990s, Sherman got a job with the Los Angeles Police Department as a trained Reserve Police Officer, a job he held until at least 2017.
He worked as a medical training officer at the Los Angeles Police Academy for more than a decade, teaching first aid and CPR to thousands of police officers. He was named the Reserve Officer of the Year by the LAPD in 1999.
In 1999, Sherman also joined the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department as a backup deputy sheriff. He kept working on training, showing newly hired cops how to do CPR and what to do in an emergency. In 2010, Sherman stopped working for the sheriff’s office.
Sherman helped start the Brigitte & Bobby Sherman Children’s (BBSC) Foundation with his wife. The goal of the foundation is to give poor kids in Ghana a high-quality education and music program that gives them the skills they need to go to college.
