What Can We Expect From Season 2 of Barbarians?
Season 2 of Barbarians will be based on historical events, as was the first. Although the creators of the show haven’t revealed what’s next for Arminius, Thusnelda, and Folkwin, history suggests that another horrifying fight is on the way.
In 16 AD, Roman General Germanicus attempted to avenge the fallen legions by resuming the war with even more troops. The Battle of Idistaviso, unlike the Battle of Teutoburg Forest, was a huge success for the Romans, so if the show stays true to history, this second series could spell disaster for our heroes.
The fact that Daniel Donskoy is playing Arminius’ younger brother Flavus as an adult suggests that a dramatic family reunion is almost certain. Flavus, like his older brother, was kidnapped as a child by the Romans. Despite this, he remained loyal to his Roman captors and even served in the Roman army under Germanicus.
Also, we anticipate that Folkwin’s oath to the gods, as well as the discovery that Thusnelda is pregnant with Folkwin’s child, will cause problems for our three main characters, particularly since she hopes to govern alongside Arminius! There is still a lot to unpack for Barbarians Season 2 because we have yet to see a trailer

Is Netflix’s Barbarians Based on a True Story?
It most emphatically is. The story of Barbarians is based on the true Battle of the Teutoburg Forest. This pivotal battle occurred under the cover of night, much like in the series, when an alliance of Germanic tribes targeted the Roman forces that oppressed them. During the battle, they were able to defeat three Roman legions.
In this historic moment, there is even a well-known name. Arminius was the one who brought the Germanic tribes together and formed an alliance to defeat the Roman forces. He was able to pull off this deception because, despite being born a prince of the Germanic Cherusci tribe, he was kidnapped as a child by the Roman Empire. He was then drawn into the Roman military, where he excelled and patiently waited for the right moment to exact his revenge.
