Bling Empire’s Star Anna Shay’s Surprising Death to Stroke!
Anna Shay, who participated in Netflix’s “Bling Empire” reality program, died of a stroke, according to Variety. She was 62 years old.
“It breaks our hearts to announce that Anna Shay, a loving mother, grandmother, charismatic star, and our brightest ray of sunshine, died from a stroke at the age of 62.” Anna taught us many life lessons, such as not taking life too seriously and appreciating the better things in life. Her influence on our lives will be mourned but never forgotten,” her family said in a statement to Variety on Monday.
Shay was born and reared in Japan, the son of American businessman Edward Shay and Ai Oizumi Shay, a half-Japanese, half-Russian mother. Pacific Architects and Engineers, a multinational defense contractor, was founded by her father.
Shay’s brother, Allen, took over as CEO of Pacific Architects after her father died in 1995. Shay and her brother sold the firm to Lockheed Martin in 2006, giving them the company’s heirs.
“My parents are my heroes, and I think the best way to continue their legacy is to give back,” she told Tatler in February 2022. The news source says that Shay and her brother Allen sold Pacific Architects and Engineers for $1.2 billion in 2006.
Shay went on to feature in Netflix‘s reality show “Bling Empire” in 2021. She co-starred with Kane Lim, Gabriel and Christine Chiu, Kim Lee, Jaime Xie, and other Asian American socialites from Los Angeles. The show was frequently compared to the real-life “Crazy Rich Asians.”
“Shay says she considered starring on ‘Bling Empire’ as a way to do something for herself after spending years caring for her son following the deaths of her parents,” Town & Country reported in a 2021 profile.
“Bling Empire” co-star Kevin Kreider paid tribute to Shay on Instagram, writing, “You never know when your final farewell will be. When I last saw you for lunch, I wished I had taken a moment to scent the blooms and gone on one last adventure with you.”

In a statement to Variety, co-star Kim Lee exclaimed, “This is such a shocking development. I have a lot of affection for Anna. I am aware that we had conflicts with the program, but I had a wonderful relationship with her outside of the show.
She provided me with countless words of wisdom that I will never forget. Anna Shay is a remarkable and distinct individual who was adored by a large number of people. My sympathies are with her family during this time of sorrow.” Shay is survived by Kenny Kemp, her son.
