When Will Alien: Romulus Come Out, What Will Be The Story.
Fede Álvarez, the director of Evil Dead, and 20th Century Studios have disclosed a lot of information regarding the cast, plot, and release date of Alien: Romulus, the impending new Alien film.
The Alien franchise, which began with Ridley Scott’s 1979 film, focused mostly on Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and her numerous interactions with the lethal Xenomorphs and all of their various variations.
The franchise was resurrected in 2012 after Prometheus took it in an intriguing new path, and Alien: Covenant, released in 2017, seemed to be the apparent conclusion of Ripley’s quest.
Even though the Alien series isn’t always the most reliable, it’s difficult to dispute how creative and clever the sci-fi horror genre can be when done right. Expectations for the new Alien movie are high as Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe filmmaker Fede Álvarez is handling Alien: Romulus. Alien: Romulus will stand alone as a story and not extensively reference Covenant or other installments.
A story co-written by Rodo Sayagues, creative partner of Álvarez’s Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe, and a cast headlined by Mare of Easttown and Pacific Rim star Cailee Spaeny suggest that Alien: Romulus might be a successful return to the cramped horror of the franchise’s origins.
Alien: Romulus Release Date
The official announcement of Alien: Romulus took place in March 2022, but the title of the upcoming Fede Álvarez film had not yet been decided upon. It was also announced that the film will be available exclusively on Hulu for streaming. Alien: Romulus, a working title, was eventually made available in November 2022. In July 2023, Alien: Romulus’s filming came to an official end.
August 16, 2024, has been selected as the release date for Alien: Romulus. Midway through 2023, the new release date for Alien was revealed, following months of the film’s director Fede Alvarez sharing the first production photo and subtly teasing the reappearance of the famous face-hugger wrapped around a slate board.

What Will Be The Storyline Of It?
Although the plot of the upcoming Alien film has not yet been made public, the film’s creative team has insisted that it stand alone and not be connected to the rest of the Scott family, which includes the original series and its prequels. The plot of “a group of young people in a distant world, who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe” is promised in the hazy but interesting summary that has been released thus far.
Despite being advertised as a stand-alone picture, Alien: Romulus is set between Alien and Aliens, which somewhat restricts the possibilities for the plot. Since Ripley was trapped in space for more than 50 years in the timeline, Alien: Romulus may take place either immediately after Alien or closer to the sequel, where the Xenomorph was revealed to be an even greater threat. It’s unknown if Alien: Romulus will be more of an action-packed thriller like Aliens or a riveting sci-fi horror like the original.
Alien: Romulus Cast
The cast of Alien: Romulus has been revealed, but not much is known about the roles they will be performing. When Cailee Spaeny’s participation in the upcoming Alien film was initially made public in November 2022, she became the first cast member to commence talks. It is said that her role would be the main character and that she will emulate Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley spiritually.
Numerous more names have already been linked to the cast of Alien: Romulus. The entire cast of Alien Romulus is comprised of:
- David Jonsson (Industry)
- Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone)
- Isabela Merced (Rosaline)
- Spike Fearn (The Batman)
- Aileen Wu (Away from Home)
Why The New Alien Film Won’t Be Directed by Ridley Scott?
The anticipated sequel to Alien, Alien: Romulus, will not be directed by Ridley Scott. Although he was in charge of the 1979 original, other directors have frequently added to the universe and told new tales. Fede Álvarez, who directed the critically acclaimed horror/thriller Don’t Breathe and the Evil Dead reboot in 2013, will instead helm the upcoming Alien film. Given his large background in the horror genre, it’s likely that the upcoming Alien film will explore the Alien universe in a more dark and terrifying manner.
Scott will still be actively involved in the upcoming Alien film, working closely with Fede Álvarez, even if he won’t be directing the production. Being the principal producer, Álvarez and his crew will probably value his artistic opinion when determining the course that this story should follow.
