Warning: the following contains information that could be considered a spoiler for the ninth episode of the 24th season of the television show “Law & Order: SVU,” titled “And the injury in the pear tree.”
After 12 seasons on “Law & Order: SVU,” Detective Kelly Giddish Amanda Rollins has finally been written out of the show. In this episode, Rollins and Carisi got married in a surprise ceremony, and Amanda had a difficult time breaking the news to Olivia Benson that she had taken a position as a teacher. As it was for her protagonist, Mariska Hargitey found it difficult to split ways with her close friend and business partner.
Following the airing of the show, Mariska Hargitay posted a kind note to her old coworker on Instagram. Hargitey made it plain that she was feeling emotional by adding the hashtag #Rollivia to the caption of the photo, and she also made sure to tell Giddish that she would always miss her on set:
After having worked together for more than a decade, Hargitey and Giddish may be said to have developed a close relationship. This is in addition to the fact that Benson and Rollins have grown to be good friends throughout the course of their careers. In this episode, the detectives said their goodbyes with quite a bit of passion, and I have a sneaking suspicion that Hargitey and Giddish didn’t actually play since it was so impolite of them to do so.
When it was revealed that Kelly Giddish would be departing Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, a lot of people started wondering how Rollins would get out of the unit and how Benson would respond to the news. Benson was disappointed that Rollins would be moving on, but she couldn’t help but feel proud of her accomplishments. In addition to this, she ensured him that they would maintain communication, despite the fact that they would not be in constant proximity to one another. I suppose one could say the same thing about Mariska Hargitay and Kelly Giddish as well.
Following the broadcast of her most recent episode, Giddish also took the time to share her message. She thanked everyone who has supported Amanda Rollins throughout the years and uploaded some photographs from behind the scenes on her Instagram account.
SVU has come under fire from Kelly Giddish in recent episodes, particularly after the Rollins incident that occurred during the major Law & Order crossover event. At this time, Rollins is stepping down from her position as a detective with the Manhattan Special Victims Unit; however, it is unknown whether she will be able to return at some point in the future. On the other hand, now that she and Karisi are married, fans can hopefully look forward to some updates in the future. Aside from that, assuming Benson follows his commitment, they will undoubtedly maintain their time spent together in the future.
Even if it would have been preferable to abandon Rollins, it’s great that the detective was able to come out on top in the end. Things are going to be different when the programme returns in the new year without her, but it makes me happy to hear that she is doing well in her new position and that she and Karisi are happily married. However, we are keeping our fingers crossed that Kelly Giddish will make an appearance on SVU in the not-too-distant future.
On Thursday, January 5, at 21:00, the television show “Law and Order: SVU” will once again begin airing brand new episodes. Watch ET on NBC. In addition, make sure you take a look at the CinemaBlend TV programme for 2023 to get a better idea of what else is going to take place in the upcoming year.
