Aerosmith Declares Touring Retirement as Lead Singer Steven Tyler Suffers From a Vocal Injury

Following the vocal injury sustained by lead singer Steven Tyler, Aerosmith announced that they would no longer be touring.

“Steven’s voice is a unique instrument. He has been working nonstop for months to restore his voice to its pre-injury level,” the Aerosmith official Instagram account posted on Friday, August 2. “Despite having the best medical staff at his side, we’ve watched him struggle.

Regretfully, it appears that he will never fully recover from his vocal impairment. We, as a brotherly band, have decided to retire from the traveling stage due to painful and challenging circumstances.

“It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become a part of yours,” the statement said. You have placed us on the soundtrack of your lives in every club, on every huge tour, and at special, intimate times.

The group, which consists of Joey Kramer, Brad Whitford, Tyler, Joe Perry, and Tom Hamilton, continued by expressing gratitude to their supporters, team, and crew. “To all of you, the greatest fans on Earth, a last thank you. Play our songs loudly from now on. Go ahead and dream. Our dreams have come true because of you.

In the comments area, fans were eager to commend the band. One social media user said, “Thank you so much for 50 years of some of the best rock ‘n’ roll ever written and recorded,” while another commented, “Sad news.” Warm regards to Joe, Steven, and the entire band. Your timeless music endures!”

The band’s declaration follows Tyler’s, 76, September 2023 announcement that he suffered a larynx fracture. After discovering that Tyler’s ailment was more serious than anticipated, Aerosmith decided to postpone their Peace Out: The Farewell Tour.

“Unfortunately, it turns out that Steven had a more serious vocal injury than first believed. The band said at the time, “His doctor has confirmed that he fractured his larynx, which requires continuing treatment, in addition to the damage to his vocal chords.

“Considering the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential, but he is receiving the best medical care available to ensure his recovery is swift.”

While hosting his yearly Jam for Janie Grammys viewing party in February, Tyler disclosed his injury, saying, “My throat’s been better, but it is on the mend.”

Later, while shocking fans at the Black Crowes concert in London, Tyler made his stage debut for the first time since his accident in May. He sang Aerosmith’s “Mama Kin” in a duet with lead singer Chris Robinson at the time.
